I’m trying to add a little bit more content towards the beginning of a cutscene. I figured it would be simple to select all clips, drag them ahead a bit, and then stretch the clips to add some more time at the start of the clip. However, this has the nasty side-effect of moving all keyframes relative to the start of the clip. See the attachment. You can see that as I drag the start of the clip, all the keyframes move with it.

What I wanted to happen was simply to make more “room” in the clip so I could add some new keyframes at the beginning of the clip. I tried adding a keyframe earlier than the start of the clip, but it just puts it exactly at the start of the clip instead. I tried adding another clip adjacent to this one, but that’s a bit awkward because the curves don’t align well.

Anyway, is there a way to add more stuff early in a clip?

        Hello,

It was not possible, but I have just implemented this feature request and is now possible to perform by holding down the Control key (after initiating a clip scaling since Control is already bound to modify the blend in/out).

I have send you the change to your registered email account.

        Let me know.

Very cool. I got the update, and it works nicely to stretch clips left, keeping their keyframes at the same global time.

One bug I’m seeing, which doesn’t really matter to me, occurs if I use this new feature to try to make the clip shorter. In other words, dragging right instead of dragging left. In that case, if I drag the start through two of the keyframes, all the keyframes get removed. Dragging through the first keyframe nicely “picks up” the keyframe and moves it with the start of the clip, but as soon as you pick up a second keyframe, they all get removed. I don’t plan on using this to drag right, but maybe it shouldn’t even let you drag that way in this case. (I don’t know what it would really mean to do this…)

Anyway, thanks again. This is immediately useful.

            Hey,

Thanks for the follow up. I am glad you find it usefull. Yeah. I noticed this bug as well but at the time I was not sure how to handle this yet. Maybe your suggestion of disallow dragging to the right side of the clip is a good solution, or at least allow dragging up to the first keyframe (on the right side). I will need to handle this behaviour for sure before going live though 🙂

            Thanks again!
